I just want to say THANK YOU!! To all the people out there who keep us in your thoughts and prayers. It was a hard time for my family and we made it though. If it wasn't for the good wishes, helping hands, soup kitchen, school, and people who just listen, I greatly appreciate everything. If I missed anyone I apologize, and THANK YOU also.

Well S A L T, is over!!
Actuality is has been for a couple of weeks, but due to me trying to make up the homework I got behind in while being homeless, I haven't been able to update anything. So here I am, updating. We got into a house that we are paying rent on, it's not the best looking house on the planet, but we have a roof over our heads and a bed to sleep on, and a place that is safe for the kids. And that all that matters.
I have learned a lot in the last couple of months, like not matter what happen, it always end up for the best, and there is always a reason for it, you may not know what or why, but there is a reason.

HERE WE ARE NOW.
Ok, kids we came though the worst,
we are homeless,
stayed in a tent for 2 weeks,
stayed in a building (cause someone we know let is),
one car has a leak, making it where it over heats,
the other, has a fuel something issue, which makes it where it will not start for a while, making it where we over heat.
The cats decide they didn't want to be kept inside and ran away, one did come back, and the other one a day later,
then on the last weekend here at the building, I don't know if we have to move back into the tent.
Your momma, is having some health issue, that is starting to scare her.
I won't you kids to look at this in the future and realize that, during this time, we held it together and survive this. And that you can so the same in yours.

School work, Library days, and everything inbetween.
As much as I try to keep the kids busy though out all this, I didn't think what that would do to me. I thought the kids having stuff to do would keep the stress down - not. But we're doing it. This place is not that bad, can't get wifi, so doing class work has been kinda hard. I'm starting to fail a class, due to the fact, I'm sometimes late turning in assignments. And can't make it to the live stuff. But it will get better. I have to believe that.
And as much we like going to the library, we have a little problem during the whole ordeal one of my son books got wet and he turned it in without tell me, I got a phone call about it. It's damage and has to be paid for and we can't check out anymore book because of that. So I want to scream in frustration, but it will get better.
It will get better.

Ok, we have a roof over our heads!!!
YAY!!!! We decided to take the job for a roof over our heads. The place used to be a place where you can get anything done, they did taxes, sell used cars, hooked up stereo systems, and he was a minister for the Spanish specking community. The landlord, told him to get out, cause he wasn't paying the rent. So he got mad and damage the place, but at lease we have a roof for 3 weeks, this will make it where my hubby can get 2 paychecks saved up so we can find us a place.

Good news! Maybe?
Two days ago, me and the hubby, started worrying about what we're going to go, we were out of money, our food was low, and as much as we like camping, it may be a while before we do this again. So someone camp up to my hubby for a proposition, he let us have a roof over our heads, if we clean this building.
Ok, we went to look at it, and what a mess, but doable. The last person in there got mad, and distoryed just about everything. Broken glass, from beet bottles to the lights off the ceiling (so we have to clean up before I let the kids in there) they put handful of dark paint and painted the light paint areas, tore out half the ceiling, and holes in wall. So not very much. We have 3 weeks to do it, can it be done? We'll find out.

all not fun and games
And there reason why I say that is because life is hard... due to living out of a cooler we can buy food that will last a while, so we been spending money on food everyday. and some of the food goes bad to quickly. So we are really really broke, but we will make it. There is a soup kitchen here in town, where the homeless can come in a eat lunch. Yesterday, we had to go. I cried, and not because I was embarrassed but because I have always thought I would be the one helping other people out. I plan to help out the soup kitchen. But now their are helping me. I'm really glade about that. But I still cried. So it's not all fun and games. I try to pretend that it is for the kids. And it's been working for the most part. It will get better.

Skipping rocks.
Yestoray, my "brother" Robert came over to hang out, since my son doesn't have summer school, Robert decided we could teach him how to skip rock.
My son hasn't got the hang of ot yet.
Just another day
Today, we watch the canoes come in, and we wonder why have the life jacket in the canoe and not on the person. We seen kids with adults, and the kids had them on, but not the adults with them. What would have happen if the currant of the water pulled the adult under what would happen with the kid?
Then there was a tire tube, with a kid and an adult. And of course the adult didn't have the life jacket on, the kid did. And we seen the adult fall off. (The water was only 3ft deep) but it doesn't matter. The tire almost ran off with the kid. So why people, why not wear them?
I guess these thought come cause there was a drowning not to far from here, up river. It was a 16 year old without a life jacket.

One of the kid stories...
Poor Dead fish aaaahh
Rya go a fish out of the water and "I got a fish"
I asked is it dead. "No"
Is it moving. "No."
She show it to us and it was dead. So I told her it was dead. She looked like she was going to cry and said "poor little fish." And she made a grave for it.
Lighting bugs (firer flies)
Lighting bug (firer flies)
That the one thing I'm going to missed the most. It looking out and seeing thousands of flashing light everywhere. I tried to get a pic, but my camera sucks.
I will NOT miss the other bugs.

Background, Why are we here?
Operation SALT: Summer Adventure Living in a Tent.
About a week and a half ago we got a letter stating we
needed to leave the property, due to hazardous waste. In another words the
plumbing broke under the house and there was a massive leak. It’s a house that
was turned into apartments, 3 of them. And We ALL had a week to get out. It was
just Me, hubby and the 2 brats (My family), an single neighbor Renee
(friend/family) and another family, that had to find a place to live. Well the
family easily found a place to live, which I’m happy for. My whole family, that
includes Renee, had problems finding places that we could afford. Renee found a RV at an RV park that she like
and moved in there.
My father-in-law decided it was time for my little family to
get into a house, so we went to the bank and got approved for a loan to buy a
house, but that’s going to take a while. So we decided to pitch a tent at that
place that Renee found. So we’re still together. I wanted to keep a record of
things that happen so the kids can always remember, the lessons we learned. And
the biggest lesson is, even when things get tough there is always a way, you
just got to keep trying.
So this is home, one tent for the kids, and one for me and hubby.
We have rules in the Camp.
1. Do not go to the river without an adult.
2. Always us the buddy system.
Home Sweet Home |
